So at this point in the season we are all aware of who Jason Catching is and his stellar efforts out in sunny California, some may be tired of seeing photos or the viewing the back of his leathers. Catching once again is perfect at round 4 of the AFM road racing champion. With another 3 wins (650 twins, 650 Production, Formula IV) at Thunderhill, Jason is now 15-0 in the 2014 season. You don’t normally hear racing results sounding like the first 15 games of a NFL season but Catching is ready to go for the perfect season. Leaving Jay Kinberger, who has been a solid 2nd place in almost every race this season and currently points leader in Lightweight Formula 40 class, wondering what needs to be done take the crown off Catching and his AP MotoArts SV650. I was able to ask Jason a few questions….

Q: Other than the new SV650, what is different in 2014? More training, more desire, having more fun?
Jason: Well first thing would be the machine. AP MotoArts has built a monster! I have ridden plenty of SV ‘ s and this one by far is the fastest. The goal for the year was to break track records. We have done that at all the tracks except Thunderhill. It has been a blast in the process. I don’t have to spend so much energy on playing catch up. I get in a nice rhythm and ride my own race. We are less than half a second away from matching the current track record at Thunderhill. I am shooting to break it in 2 weeks when we return. The whole AP MotoArts Catching Competition partnership was a great move and has showcased the talents of all parties involved.

Q: I feel like i’m talking to Tom Brady about a perfect season with the Patriots but now that you’re 15-0, is your goal to have a perfect race season?
Jason: I haven’t really given a perfect season too much thought. A lot of things can happen in 3 race rounds. The only thing I am focusing on is bettering my times. The rest will fall into place.

Q: Does the success season change plans for next season?
Jason: With the current success I am hoping to add some new sponsors to the program. Maybe somebody not in the industry. Anything is possible. I am thankful I have been given the opportunity that I have. Andy Palmer is an SV god of sorts and then you add in my big brother Billy Catching and I feel like anything is possible. As far as where I will be racing, that is still up in the air.

Q: One last question, how are you going to respond when I show you a wheel in October? Have to see what all the Catching buzz is about for myself.
Jason: If you can keep up through turn 2, I might move over 😉
