After an uncharacteristic start to the N2/WERA endurance series at Pittsburgh, the two RBoM teams were looking for revenge on Chiefs Racing #996. With RBoM 128 kicking their A rider, Simon Buric, off the team for riding like a potato the seat was open for someone new. The team would promote Steve Tsotsoros to the A seat and bring in former Red Bull Rookies Cup/M4 Team Hammer Suzuki rider Kris Turner.
When the flag dropped we saw former SV cup participants in the 1, 2, 3 spots. Chris Parrish (RBoM 128) out front with Bradley Champion (TWF #60) and Robert Risher (RBoM 117) in tow. Parrish would open up a 30 second lead on the other two riders but this lead would be all for nothing as a red flag halted the race. A series of red flags would really shake things up and work into TWF Racing’s favor. TWF would pit for fuel and rider change sending the SV racing pioneer and TWF Racing Owner Zoran Vujasinovic out. This pit stop was done just prior to when the RBoM teams would make their pit stops. TWF’s first pit stop worked out perfect as the time the team lost in the pit stop was wiped clean with a timely red flag. This allowed TWF to take the lead and never look back.
RBoM 128’s major set back was not the untimely pitstop, it was a small bobble made after the 2nd restart by Steve Tsotsoros. Steve would grabbed a fist full of throttle sending the team’s SV650 into the dirt. The team quickly repaired the motorcycle with some handy duct tape work on the tail section and a speedy left bar replacement.
In the final hour the TWF #60 Suzuki sV650 would put RBoM 117 down another lap and take victory by 3 laps, but it wasn’t the RBoM 117 or 128 bike that ended up in the 2nd position. Chief’s racing managed to pick off the 117 machine in the final few minutes to secure the silver medal position. The two RBoM teams, managed by Michael Copolous and Russell Masecar, have be choking in the 2018 season after dominating the 2017 season… What has happened to the lightweight class endurance powerhouse?
