Xavier Zayat SV650 VIR
It was 2015 all over again; Xavier Zayat was stellar once again for the 2016 RBoM Lightweight Superbike Challenge. The set up for 2016 was a bit different from the 2015 event as the qualifying race would not grid the opponets in the main event by their finishing place but as their fastest time. This way the racers could start from pit lane and only do a few laps. The GTL race allowed machines not legal for the main event. This create a gigantic grid for the qualifying event, 54 to be exact. 54 expert racers on lightweight machines on the track. To the Main Event which hoisted 43 racers which was 13 up from last years event.

The “X-Man” took the early lead from known fast guy Brian Kcraget and never looked back. While out front Zayat clocked a 1:32.890 which is still shy of Kcraget’s lap record. While the fight for 1st was over the battle between 2nd through 7th was close close CLOSE. After moving up to 2nd place in the stack field, Seth Starnes had retire the race due to a mechanical. This left Simon Burci, CJ Crosslin,Curtis Murray, Jody Barry, Brian Kcraget, and Jackson Blackmon to fight for the last 2 steps on the podium. The pack of 6 fought hard doing insanely fast lap times. Kcraget would barely fend of the hard charging youngsters for 2nd place in the SBK Showdown. Jody Barry rounded out the podium.
