Chris Parrish leading Jason Madama , MotoAmerica Twins Cup 2018

Obviously, you can’t start talking 2019 MotoAmerica Twins favorites and not talk about the 2018 season. Chris Parrish and Jason Madama showed us how close the racing could be and what a tight championship battle looks like. I believe many saw this and now want a piece of the action.

Chris Parrish : Our 2018 champ has got to be near the top of the favorites list. He will be back for the complete season on his Ghetto Customs 3rd Generation SV650. He’s added a few bike upgrades to the handling and power plant. I don’t think anyone has him not on their radar.

Jason Madama : Like Parrish, Madama has got to be on everyone’s radar as he fought hard for the championship with race wins and gritty performances on his Yamaha FZ/MT07. Madama is also back for 2019 all season long with another fast Yamaha FZ07.

Kris Turner : Kris, a former Red Bull Rookies Cup and Team Hammer rider, showed he’s still got the speed. He had a victory at NJMP in the rain and multiple podium finishes including a hard fought 2nd place at the season finale where he relinquished the lead to Robert McClendon in the last corner. Kris, riding a Suzuki SV650, will no doubt be in the front pack.

Curtis Murray : Curtis is my sleeper pick. For some reason I feel he is forgotten about by some of his competitors. But they cannot forget that in the three races Murray entered in 2018 (Road Atlanta, VIR, and Barber), he finished 3rd place. It was no secret that he was on a under powered machine compared to the guys around him, this will not be the case for 2019 as RBoM is putting Curtis on a new SV650 with a stout power plant… Don’t sleep on Curtis.

Alex Dumas : Coming off the 2018 MotoAmerica Jr Cup championship, he will have the confidence to race up front. He is back by M4 Suzuki and i’m sure their Suzuki SV650 will be no dud. Alex, who has always had a slight size advantage in the Jr Cup, will continue to have this advantage moving up to the Twins Class. Small in stature, expect him to slingshot passed the beer guts of the wily veterans in the front of him. I would not be surprised if the young Canadian takes victory at the opening round.

Cooper McDonald : While I don’t know much about Cooper, what I do know is that he fast and he will be on a fast Yamaha MT07 built by his father Sam and the well known Andy Palmer.

Chris Bays : Chris stood on the podium at his first MA Twins Cup race in 2018 during the Pittsburgh round. He just barely held off youngster Tyler Humphreys to take 3rd in that race but he showed good speed and flawless riding. Chris went fast again at his only other MA weekend, the finale at Barber where he had to fight another young one, Draik Beauchamp. He will be riding his 2nd Generation Suzuki SV650 powered by RBoM

Draik Beauchamp : 2017 was a pretty good year for the kid out of Tennessee, as he saw many podiums in the KTM Jr Cup class but 2018 was a struggle as he moved to a new team and bike. He finished out the season strong by moving to the Twins class on a RBoM Suzuki SV650 and running very fast times at the challenging Barber circuit.. 2019 will again be a new team and bike. The bike, Yamaha FZ07 built by Andy Palmer and the team, also run by Andy Palmer.

A few notible mentions that I don’t know much about. Kris Lillegard and Joseph Blasius. I was told they will be fast, let’s see.

Sad you don’t see your name? Don’t worry, there will be another list coming with more of the season entries as well as local favorites.
