MotoAmerica Twins : Who stops Jody?

The theme of the Twins cup class is that the racing does not disappoint. In 2022, it’s more on the tone of Jody Barry does not disappoint. Minus the opening round at Daytona, which was spectacular I might add, Jody and his Veloce Racing Aprilia RS660 have been perfect. It’s not just Barry’s speed that stands out, it’s been his perfect race craft. He’s played every race perfect in order to take the win. Each weekend he has challengers and each weekend he writes out his own destiny to perfection. He’s won the last 4 races with each one decided at the line. Here’s exactly how close each win was.
Road Atlanta: .073 over Teagg Hobbs
VIR Race 1: .022 over James Respoli
VIR Race 2: .078 over Hayden Schultz
Road America: .432 over Anthony Mazziotto
This weekend’s racing takes place at the beautiful Ridge Motorsports Park in Shelton, Washinton. Who steps up to end Jody’s win streak?
I’m not a betting man but Anthony Mazziotto is near the top of that list to put my money on. His performances this season have been very good regardless of what the actual end result was. He’s set the fastest lap of races and twice at VIR he came from the back of the grid to top 5 finishes. Last year’s race at The Ridge, Anthony was leading until his RS660 boiled over in the 105+ degree weather. He’s fast and skilled, just needs that little bit of luck to put him on the top step.
Hayden Schutlz is always a contender. He’s not just skin and bones like most of the other top 10 riders but that didn’t stop him from taking the win in Race 2 at Daytona. He’s got loads of talent and excellent feel of what the bike is doing beneath him. He’s one of the riders that I can’t seem to understand why he doesn’t win more. At any moment it could be Hayden’s day to stand on the top step.
The Robem Engineering duo of Teagg Hobbs and Ben Gloddy have been slightly off from where myself and many expected them to be. Hobbs came very close to beating Jody at Atlanta with his teammate Gloddy finishing 1.9 seconds back in 3rd place but since then it’s not gone according to plan. Teagg is returning to action after breaking his collar bone at Road America. Both riders have everything they need to take the fight to Jody.
Dominic Doyle is starting to turn his twins cup season around. He set the lap record and pole position at our last round with a race finish of 3rd place not far from 1st. Let’s see if “Dom” can build on this performance and put himself in front of Jody and the others.
Kaleb De Keyrel NEEDS a win. The defending champion and Jody Barry’s teammate is in desperate need of a victory to keep his title defense hopes alive. Kaleb always seems to rise to the occasion so don’t write him off just yet.
Honorable mentions: Blake Davis and Cory Ventura. Blake won the opening race at Daytona. Cory in his twins cup debut last season set the lap record at NJMP and took the race 1 victory. Boys, what’s going on? We know you can get more of those podiums.
The Ridge layout is tricky but amazing. The surface is brand new and perfect. Who’s going to put an end to Jody’s winning streak, or does it continue?
