Alex Dumas (2nd on the grid) would grab the holeshot and lead nearly the entire race fending of a freight train of riders behind me. First half of the race the top 6 were in line. Kris Turner was making passes and working his way forward before his tire stopped giving him the traction that was needed. At this time it was Dekeyrel’s turn to charge.
While qualifying didn’t go that great (12th out of 30 riders) for Kaleb DeKeyrel, the race was stellar. Slowly picking off riders lap after lap. With 2 laps to go he would go up the inside of Alex Dumas in turn 1 coming into turn 2. The style DeKeyrel showed backing his RoaringToyz MT07 into the corners was fun to watch. During his charge to victory, Kaleb set a new lightweight twins lap record with a 1:31.813. The top 13 riders were all under the old lap record set last year by Jason Madama ( 1:35.105 ). Madama came away with a 6th place finish and a best time of 1:33.015
Dumas ran a bit wide into turn 1 which allowed Michael Barnes to squeak on through cementing his 2nd place finish for the race and extending Barnes’ championship points lead. The top three were less than a second from each other at the finish line. 4th place, Draik Beauchamp, was 8 seconds behind the podium finishers with 5th place Kris Turner roughly .7 behind Draik.
