The 2023 season is about to kick off at Daytona but I believe we need to show some respect to the season we had in 2022. It was looking like a blowout coming in form of Jody Barry. Lurking in the shadows was a young Blake Davis who took the series points lead when it mattered the most. Keep track of the “Accumulated Margin of Victory” throughout this article to really understand how close this series is.

Daytona naturally creates amazing racing. We saw a massive pack of riders coming to the line every lap.

Daytona Race 1: 1st place Blake Davis 0.065 over 2nd place Teagg Hobbs, 0.124 in front of 3rd place Anthony Mazziotto, and 0.271 to 4th place Jackson Blackmon.

Daytona Race 2: 1st place Hayden Schultz 0.241 gap to 2nd place Jody Barry and 0.256 Tommaso Marcon. Let’s add that top 8, that’s right the top 8, were separated by 0.634. It most likely would have been even closer if Blake Davis did not DNF.
Accumulated Margin of Victory: 0.306

Atlanta Race: 1st place Jody Barry 0.073 gap to Teagg Hobbs and 1.997 to Ben Gloddy in 3rd.

Accumulated Margin of Victory: 0.401

VIR Race 2: 1st place Jody Barry 0.078 over Hayden Schultz, 0.103 to James Rispoli, and 0.235 to Kaleb De Keyrel. Top 4 covered by 0.235
Accumulated Margin of Victory: 0.479

Road America Race: 1st place Jody Barry 0.423 over Anthony Mazziotto, 0.584 to Dominic Doyle, 0.718 to Blake Davis, and 0.789 to Cory Venture. Top 5 covered by 0.789
Accumulated Margin of Victory: 0.902

NOTE: We are 6 races into this series and the accumulated margin of victory is still under 1 second.

Ridge Race 1: 1st place Anthony Mazziotto 0.162 over Kaleb De Kayrel and 0.472 to Hayden Schultz.
Accumulated Margin of Victory: 1.064

Ridge Race 2: 1st place Anthony Mazziotto 0.341 over Hayden Schultz
Accumulated Margin of Victory: 1.405

This is around the time when I personally thought Mazziotto was going to take this 2022 Twins cup title..

Laguna Race: 1st place Cory Venture 0.082 over Blake Davis and 0.299 to Anthony Mazziotto.
Accumulated Margin of Victory: 1.487

New Jersey Race: 1st place Blake Davis 3.105 to Benjamin Gloddy and 3.484 to Teagg Hobbs.
Accumulated Margin of Victory: 4.996

Barber Race: 1st place Kaleb De Keyrel 3.688 to Teagg Hobbs and 3.829 to Benjamin Gloddy.
Accumulated Margin of Victory: 8.684

It took until the last 2 races of the year for us to get a sizable margin of victory. Those 2 outliers hurt the insanity of our average finish but even with that the average margin of victory is still under 1 second (0.620). We also had 8 new lap records. Twins cup delivers.

Congratulations to the 2022 champion Blake Davis and good luck to all of our 2023 MotoAmerica Twins cup racers.
