Darren and Jon had gotten the bike to us at the beginning of March and we didn’t have a lot of time getting things together. Covid put some delays on parts but we been lucky to have made some great friendships in the industry in the short amount of time of our involvement and able to get a bike and spare motor assembled in time for round 1. Unfortunately with the border closed, Darren wasn’t able to make the round and some of the additional parts came in since then, such as the Brembo GP4-RX’s.
Dymag got the wheel to us pretty quickly I’m just reluctant to be the one to put the first marks on them fitting tires.
Trevor up at flexiglass got the bodywork to us just before the first round when Darren confirmed he would not be able to join so I pulled off the project to focus on some final bits for the SV650’s such as fitting the intakes we had outsourced to Finishline Machine and fitting the Brembo m4 calipers.
Overall I’m pretty excited about the way it turned out. I learned a lot of things I would do differently when I built my two personal FZ’s 2 years ago and had the opportunity to apply it to Darren’s bike. They were really nice bikes but you just learn how you’d improve things as you’re in the process for next time and it was nice to capitalize on that.
